HYDERABAD: A video of a traffic home guard compassionately feeding an elderly homeless woman went viral on social media on Sunday morning. Soon after B Gopal’s humane act caught the attention of netizens, another of his colleague, Jahangir Patel, too grabbed many eyeballs after he reunited a 4-year-old girl with her parents.

“The elderly woman who was seated near JNTUH crossroads reminded me of my mother. I could not stop myself from helping her. I rushed to get some biscuits, tea and fed her. I could not help her much as I was on duty, . Neither did I have contacts of GHMC officials to shift her to a shelter home,” says Gopal, who has been working as a home guard in the traffic police department for the last 10 years. He was regulating traffic flow on Sunday when his eyes fell on her. “She was hungry and even after buying her food, she was unable to eat by herself,” Gopal told Express.

According to him, the woman had been seated at the same place for the last three days, which is also why he went upto her and enquired about her being. “She is Buchamma from Tellapur, and mother of nine children including four sons. Her husband Kasaiah passed away a few years ago. She claimed her children abandoned her and one of her sons stays near JNTU area but does not take care of her,” says Gopal.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 45-year-old home guard Jahangir Patel rescued a girl who was estranged from her parents.

Jahangir was on duty on Sunday morning when he found a four-year-old girl crying near JNTUH traffic junction. “Understanding that she has gone missing, I approached her to collect details of her parents but she was unable to share their names. She only recalled that her father works as a security guard,” said the home guard. Patel then took her along and enquired with nearby shops and auto drivers to find out if he they knew her. “While I was thinking to hand over the child to police, her father came up to me. The girl on seeing her father ran and hugged him with a smile,” shared Jahangir, adding that they were also searching for their daughter. Further, he said he could not take the details about the girl’s father as he had to rush back to duty. “Her parents thanked me,” Jahangir added.
