Hyderabad girl wins bronze in gymnastics World Cup

Aruna Budda Reddy became the first Indian to win a bronze medal at a gymnastics World Cup, after she clinched bronze in the vault event in Melbourne on Saturday.

HYDERABAD: Aruna Budda Reddy became the first Indian to win a bronze medal at a gymnastics World Cup after she clinched bronze in the vault event in Melbourne on Saturday. Aruna finished with a final score of 13.649, behind Slovenia’s Tjasa Kysslef and Australia’s  Emily Whitehead. However, at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the qualification for the vault  final (top eight) was 13.733.

The other Indian in the fray, Pranati Nayak, who had also qualified for the final, finished sixth. Rakesh Patra finished fourth in the men’s rings event. The International Federation of Gymnastics World Cups are a series of invitational events, with 16 countries participating in the Melbourne World Cup. P15
