KOCHI: Coming down heavily against the state government for allegedly failing to bring to book those responsible for the mysterious death of MBBS student Shamna Thasneem, her father K A Abooty said the authorities were ‘sitting’ on two inquiry reports.

“Inquires conducted by Joint Director of Medical Examination K Sreekumari and Dr Suma T K of Alappuzha Medical College have confirmed medical negligence as the cause of death.

Though eight months have passed, no action has been initiated against the doctors responsible for Shamna’s death. Moreover, the suspended hospital employees were reinstated after one month,” Abooty told reporters here on Monday.

He alleged the government did not even hand over the `3-lakh compensation it had promised.
“I only demand prompt action to bring the culprits to book.

Though I have been seeking justice for the past eight months, the authorities concerned including Health Minister K K Shailaja failed to act on my request,” he said, and sought action against the doctors at Government Medical College and Rajagiri Hospital for showing ‘disrespect’ to Shamna’s body.

Shamna, an MBBS student, died at Government Medical College, Kalamassery, in July last year due to alleged medical negligence.
