KOCHI: The Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) in association with the Kerala Academy IT Communication Technology will conduct skill development programmes at various engineering colleges in the state to boost the job prospects of the students.

ISTD has been appointed as the nodal agency for assessments for testing and certification of skills for all sectors in India. ISTD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahrain Society for Training and Development agreeing to mutually cooperate and extend necessary help and assistance to further their common aims and objectives.

“As a majority of engineering students find it hard to get jobs, ISTD is all for creating skilled employees in the state through effective utilisation of human resources via education and training. The aim is to provide leadership and promote study and application of professional principles,” said ISTD National President R Karthikeyan.

He said skill-level and educational attainment of workforce determine productivity and the ability to adapt to the changing industrial environment. “Good marketing skills among employees are very limited in the country which impedes in getting decent employment. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has introduced more stringent measures to ensure quality training and certification and thus provide education and training as a model that suits their economic compulsion,” he said.

The ISTD Kochi chapter conducts programmes, training conclave, trainers’ summit etc.
