TIRUVALLA : Abrid Shine, director of the upcoming Malayalam movie ‘Poomaram’ is scouting for fresh acting talents in the ongoing Mahatma Gandhi University Youth festival at Kozhencherry.
“Instead of selecting actors by interviewing them, we are shortlisting them by evaluating their performance,” said Shine, who also interacted with the some of the participants.
Close to 5,000 students from 300 colleges under the university are taking part in the festival. Those getting selected as actors will get a bonus.
The director is also catching the various scenes of the youth festival for his campus-based film. Kalidas Jayaram, son of Malayalam actor Jayaram plays the lead actor in the film, whose song ‘Njanum Njanumentalum’ sung by Faizal Razi went viral since its release on November 18 last year and has been viewed over 15 million times on Youtube.
Jayaram had inaugurated the youth festival on Monday as chief guest and appealed to the students to support his son’s film.
