KOCHI: ‘Second Rain’, a new hit music, produced and Directed by Lijo Augustin under the banner of Lilly Magic Media with Music composed by Varun Unni and released via Muzic247 has become quite a rage online.

Widely anticipated since its promotions began about a week ago, the video experienced a smooth take off on social media, receiving hundreds of shares and tens of thousands of views within just a few hours from its release. It has presently crossed over views on YouTube and Facebook.

At its heart, ‘Second Rain’ (Malayalam song ‘Peyyum Mazhaye’) is a romantic track. The lyrics and video of the song narrate a tale of romance where rain acts as the predominant backdrop to important moments in the love story of a young couple. Apart from the breath-taking visuals shot in the picturesque locations of Munnar and the bustling urbane environment of Thrissur, the video also features a short climatic fight sequence.

Award winning playback singers Shwetha Mohan and Ranjith Govind (aka KG Ranjith) have lent their voices to the song and the heart-warming lyrics have been penned by R Venugopal. The music was programmed by Ashwin Sivadas, with Sandeep on the guitar.

“The song has been written in such a way that its the male voice that carries forward the narration while the female voice joins him in re-living those nostalgic memories. This is why we specifically chose Ranjith for his mid range tone and Shwetha for her light and melodious voice”, says music composer Varun Unni.

Directed by Lijo Augustin, with a crew that included Cinematographer A Kumaran of ‘Thanga Magan’ fame, Associate Directors Nitheesh Mohan and Sabin Kattungal and featuring the lead actress of ‘Saithaan’ Arundhati Nair, the video perfectly captures the magic in the melody.
‘Second Rain’ is Lijo’s fourth major project after ‘Pray for Us’, ‘Ponnathira’ and ‘Aaradhana’. A film buff hailing from Thrissur, Lijo sees music videos as the stepping stones to a career in film-making and hopes.
