Work relentlessly to form next state govt: Amit Shah to Kerala partymen

Says party workers in states like UP can take rest for now. Those in Kerala cannot until the ‘mission’ is accomplished

KOCHI: After an hour-long meeting with the top clergy, BJP president Amit Shah on Friday made a clarion call to the elected representatives of the party across the state to work relentlessly to form the next government in Kerala. “Party workers in other states like Uttar Pradesh can take a break for the time being.

However, the workers in Kerala cannot take rest till the mission to form the next government gets accomplished. With the number of elected representatives in the audience, I am sure the BJP can form the next government in four years,” Amit Shah told the audience of over 1,200 elected representatives of the party at a function held at Kaloor here. 


“The energy and enthusiasm for the BJP among people of Kerala is a sign of trust in BJP and yearning for change from the LDF, UDF Governments,” the BJP president tweeted. 
Earlier, Shah had a meeting with the heads and prelates of various Churches in the state. 


Syro-Malabar Church head Cardinal Mar George Alenchery, Thomas Mar Athanasius of the Orthodox Church, Archbishop of the Latin Archdiocese of Verapoly Mar Joseph Kalathiparambil, Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church, Kuriakose Mar Severios of the Knanaya Church and Mar Coorilos Metropolitan of the Thozhiyoor Church attended the meeting at the Renewal Centre at Kaloor.

 Meeting of NDA - One hour at Hotel Renai, Palarivattom 
 Closed-door meeting with top clergy - One hour at Renewal Centre, Kaloor
 Meeting with 1,200 elected representatives of BJP in Kerala- One hour at AJ Hall, Kaloor
 Meeting with corporate heads - One hour, Hotel Renai
In between, the BJP chief also held several one-to-one meetings with senior office-bearers of the party and prominent personalities of the state

‘National chief’s visit hugely impacted state politics’
Kochi:
BJP national president Amit Shah’s visit to the state had an immense impact on Kerala politics, said BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan on Friday. “The party will emerge as a formidable front in the state,” he told reporters after Shah’s meeting with party representatives at AJ Hall here on Friday.

“With the national chief’s visit, the stage has been set for the BJP to ensure a stronghold in the state,” said Radhakrishnan. He said the core committee meeting of the BJP was held foreseeing the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “The meeting decided to strengthen the NDA. Influential people will contest for us in the elections. The party is open to all leaders,” he said.
