Sudhakar Yadav likely to be new Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman

The state government is more or less decided on appointing Kadapa TDP leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav as chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board.

VIJAYAWADA: The state government is more or less decided on appointing Kadapa TDP leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav as chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board.

The TTD has been without a chairman for five months after Chadalavada Krishna Murthy completed his two-year term in office.“I am waiting for the government order (GO). If appointed, I will ensure that all decisions taken will be in the interest of devotees. I will take enough care to see that there is no divide between officials and the trust board. All decisions will be collective in nature,” he said and thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Yadav, who lost the Assembly election from Mydukuru in 2014 to YSRC candidate S Raghurami Reddy, has been working to strengthen the Telugu Desam Party in the constituency. He played a key role in engineering the recent defection of YSRC leaders to the yellow party. He was a member of the TTD board which Krishna Murthy had headed in the past.Yadav is related to Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu who reportedly lobbied with Naidu to take a decision in his favour.

Sources said the government order related to Sudhakar Yadav’s appointment would be issued sooner than later along with the names of the members of the new board. At a news conference here recently, Naidu said he would deal with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams  board once all the appointments to TDP-affiliated organisations were finalised.Naidu is understood to have taken the call on Yadav’s appointment as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams head as it would make it easy for him to rope in Congress leader D L Ravindra Reddy into the TDP and field him from Mydukuru.

As the constituency is dominated by Reddys, Naidu wants Ravindra to be in the TDP.
He won from Mydukuru six times in the past, but did not contest in 2014 elections as he knew how bleak the prospects of the Congress were in the elections following the division of the state.
He was Health Minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet prior to 2014, but was dropped following differences between the two.
