A software engineer from Krishna district slipped into a waterfall and died in North Carolina, United States, on Saturday evening.

VIJAYAWADA: A software engineer from Krishna district slipped into a waterfall and died in North Carolina, United States, on Saturday evening. The friends of the deceased called the members of his family and informed them about the tragic incident on Monday morning.

Gogineni Nagarjuna (33), was a native of Gottumukkala village in Kanchikacherla mandal of Krishna district and had completed his graduation in Vijayawada. He was working for a Multinational Corporation (MNC) in Charlotte, a city in North Carolina. Nagarjuna, the third son of former TDP leader Gogineni Venkata Rao, had moved to North Carolina 10 years ago for pursuing Masters, and had later settled there as a software professional.

According to his family members, Nagarjuna had gone to Winston Waterfalls along with his friends on Saturday. “When he did not come out of the water, his friends informed the police. The police fished out his body from the water and informed my mother about his death around 6 am on Monday,” said Pujitha, Nagarjuna’s sister.

Meanwhile, representatives of Telugu Association of North America (TANA) said efforts were being made to handover Nagarjuna’s body to his family members as soon as possible. “We have appointed a team to take care of the procedures involved in shifting the body to Vijayawada. We are also raising funds to meet the expenses,” said an official from TANA, North Carolina. Nagarjuna’s father had passed away 7 years ago. His brother works in Hyderabad and his sister is settled in Vijayawada.
