Finally, Jagan Mohan Reddy to shift base to Amaravati from Hyderabad

VIJAYAWADA: Finally, the YSR Congress party’s AP headquarters is going to be shifted to Amaravati, the State capital, from Hyderabad. Though the shifting process is underway, Opposition Leader and YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to come to the new office at Tadepalli only on May 23, the day of counting of votes for the April 11 elections.

Though the Opposition party’s office was inaugurated at Tadepalli in capital region a month ago, Jagan had decided to stay put at party’s Lotus Pond office in Hyderabad during the elections and after. During the electioneering, Jagan had faced a lot of criticism, especially from the ruling TDP, that he was running the show from Hyderabad under the directions of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Optimistic that the party will win the State elections and form the government, the party has decided to shift its headquarters to Amaravati now, party leaders said.

“The party activities will be operated from the new office at Tadepalli from now onwards,’’ a party leader said.To start with, the party will hold a meeting with its election counting agents at the new office on May 16 ahead of the counting on May 23. Party sources said Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy will give directions to the counting agents and party leaders on the precautions to be taken during the counting.
“Jagan will move to the new party office-cum-residence at Tadepalli on May 23 and will monitor party activities from there,’’ a YSRC leader said.

Though the new office was officially opened on the auspicious Ugadi day, Panchanga Sravanam was read out and party’s 2019 election manifesto was released from there, Jagan has operated from Lotus Pond till the completion of elections. He left for Hyderabad on the day of elections also.

All through the process of selection of MLA and MP candidates and campaigning, Jagan preferred to stay put in Lotus Pond, attracting criticism from the TDP that YSRC was acting at the behest of ruling TRS in Telangana. The TDP even criticised that the YSRC candidates were selected by KCR.

“We are confident that the YSRC will come to power. All regional and national level surveys predicted the same. The party will function from Amaravati now and the process of shifting (from Lotus Pond) has already started,’’ the leader said.Meanwhile, Jagan will stay at Pulivendula in Kadapa district for the next couple of days and will meet district leaders and locals during his visit.
