Ambitious and hardworking, second-year BBM student Divya Kumar finds solace in teaching children who cannot afford basic education.

“Helping children in slums and government schools satisfies me,” she says. A student of Jain University Centre for Management Studies, Divya volunteers for Yuva, a youth organisation that she represents as deputy head.

“I have been working for the past six months and my experience has been amazing. I’ve been able to connect with many teachers, students, media persons and others to share our views. This is a totally new experience for me,” Divya says. Apart from academics, sports and hobbies like painting, she spends her time creating awareness on the importance of hygiene and education.

“I manage my studies and spend two hours of my day with people who cannot afford education. Everybody’s got a personal life, but it is important to look back and realise what we have given to the society,” says Divya, who aspires to study MBA in the London School of Economics. Her recent assignment with Yuva was a campaign urging people to turn their engines off during traffic jams and signals. Divya who plans to continue her association with Yuva even after her degree.
