RAIPUR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Sunday attacked the Opposition Congress saying it finds revolution in Left-Wing Extremism while the safrron party “creates a revolution on development fronts”.

Shah was taking a dig at Saturday’s remarks of Uttar Pradesh Congress president Raj Babbar saying the grievances of the Maoists should be addressed as the “movement” which began for the rights of masses, and further added violence was not a solution. Babbar had immediately rebutted the BJPs’a allegations that the Congress was “supporting Maoists”.

“It’s for the people to decide,” said Shah, speaking at a rally in Rajnandgaon and another in Kondagaon later in the day.“Congress thinks of the prevailing Naxalism as a revolution. The Congress president should specify to the country what type of revolution they are advocating. For the BJP, the revolution lies in development — alleviating hunger among the poor, ensuring free healthcare, supporting farmers, and creating a progressive state under the leadership of Raman Singh,” said Shah.

He narrated the Raman Singh government’s on ‘Nava Chhattisgarh 2025’ vision for the state. In 2025, if the Raman Singh government stays in power, it will complete 25 years.Shah also highlighted the contributions of the Narendra Modi-led Central government that “enabled the state to move to a higher growth trajectory”.

Citing Raman Singh and PM Modi as the twin engines of growth, Shah said, “the BJP aims to turn Chhattisgarh into progressive states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka under the ‘Nava Chhattisgarh’ approach as espoused by the Raman Singh government.  The state  will further witness exponential growth.”

He compared the Congress regime before 2003 against 15 years of the the BJP rule in the state with various figures and said, “During the Congress regime, the Chhattisgarh region didn’t get its share and the people were deprived of development.”

Speaking about the security situation, Shah claimed Moaists were already on the  backfoot and had already suffered their worst defeat under Raman Singh’s government.

Making comparisons

BJP chief Amit Shah spoke on the work done by the Raman Singh government in the state over the past four years. He also compared the work of the 14-year Raman Singh regime to that of the Congress before 2003.“Rahul baba Chhattisgarh was under the grip of Naxalism during your time (when the Congress government was in power from 2000 to 2003). Putting his life at stake, Raman Singh has destroyed the Naxalites and flushed them out from the state,” he said. “Sometimes I see Rahul here. Chhattisgarh is not more than a tourist place for him. He comes here for a picnic...” Shah added.
