‘Prime Minister is a liar,’ says KCR; challenges him to debate on Telangana development

Rao said, alleging that Modi and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier conspired to destabilise the TRS government.

HYDERABAD: Sparing no time to hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his signature style, TRS supremo and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao retorted: “Do not lie for the sake of votes. If you have guts tell people the truth.” He challenged Modi to a debate on the development of Telangana in the last four years.

“Being a Prime Minister you should not lie about the Chief Minister of a smaller State. It is not fair to speak in such a trifling manner,” said Rao, who was addressing a rally in Mahbubnagar while the Prime Minister had just addressed a public meeting in Nizamabad. “I will fly to Nizamabad right now for a debate with you,” KCR said.

What probably triggered KCR was Modi’s comments that Nizamabad was suffering for want of potable water and power. “Modi, do you have eyes (to witness development)? Or are you reading out a speech prepared by someone else?” Rao thundered while addressing him as a “foolish Prime Minister”. He further added: “I am not like Chandrababu Naidu, I am not afraid of Modi.”

“There are no power cuts in Telangana. Do not lie for the sake of votes. Being a Prime Minister does not level false allegations against a CM. I am sorry to say this... I am saying this in English so that Modi can understand,” Rao said, alleging that Modi and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier conspired to destabilise the TRS government.

“Asaduddin Owaisi called me one day and informed me about the talks doing rounds in Delhi, of efforts to destabilise the TRS government. Then Asaduddin extended supported to TRS,” he recalled.

Reacting to Modi’s comments that KCR was dependent on ‘nimbu & mirchi’ to ward of evil forces, he said: “Do you incur financial loss, if I perform Pujas and Yagams? I believe in God. What is your problem?”

“Rahul and Sonia Gandhi come here and say I am colluding with BJP. Modi and Amit Shah come visiting and say I am colluding with Congress. I wonder with whom I have joined. TRS is fighting a lone battle... We repose our faith in people.”

In Wanaparthy, Rao again told Modi that there was no power shortage in the state. “The Central Electricity Authority declared recently that the per capita power consumption of Telangana was highest in the country, surpassing the national average,” Rao said and asked Modi not to tell lies. (The per capita power consumption in the state is 1,727 units).

Reacting to Modi’s comments that Rao depended on “Nimbu and Mirchi” (to ward off evil forces) in stead of his own strength, Rao said: “I will perform Pujas and Yagams. If people attended them, I will offer food and Theertham. ,” Rao asked Modi.

On Modi equating TRS with Congress, Rao said: “I am puzzled. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi come and say that I have colluded with BJP. Modi and Amit Shah come and say that I have colluded with Congress. I wonder, with whom I have joined?,” Rao said.

Next stops:
TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao  will address meetings in Adilabad Kagaznagar, Asifabad, Bellampally, Mandamari, Mancherial and Ramagundam on November 29. He will visit Yellandu, Manuguru and others the following day.
