Pooja Gandhi still committed to 'Hoovi'

Having tasted success with 'Dandupalya', it is not unusual to hear distasteful rumours sprouting with people associated with it. The latest to be targeted is Pooja Gandhi who has been acclaimed for her role in the film. The buzz is that the actress, who had signed 'Hoovi' before 'Dandupalya' release, has now backed off from the project.

When contacted, Pooja rejected the buzz. “I have never said that I will not do the film, but of course, I have postponed the shoot because 'Dandupalya' required more time from me. My film released around the same time when I had to start shooting for 'Hoovi', which required me to be in Belgaum for 20 days at a stretch. In between, I had given dates for Malayalam film, which I have just completed. Now I hear, Hoovi cannot be shot because it has started raining,” explains Pooja.

She also rubbished rumours that she will only do selected films to keep the success going. “I always felt that all the films that I picked up till today had good scripts. But some did not work. That doesn’t mean I have stopped signing films. Even 'Hoovi' is a good script and it will be better with me in the film,” says Pooja, who will have to only sort out her dates for the film.

“At times, juggling dates for films and promotions becomes very difficult. I have requested them for some time before I start shooting. Hope they consider,” she adds.

Meanwhile Vishal Raj, director of 'Hoovi' wants only Pooja for his film. “I understand that she could not stick to the scheduled dates that we had allotted. Promotions are a must for any film. Tomorrow, even for our film, she will be adjusting dates during the promotions. Now, I am only requesting her to give the required 20 days to kickstart the shoot,” he says.

Monsoon is also another reason, which has caused the delay. “When I wanted to start, there was no rain. Now that monsoon has arrived, I have to delay my portions in Belgaum. However, I will complete my Bangalore schedule and then go to the village, which we have selected to shoot major portions of 'Hoovi',” he explains.

Though cashing in on Pooja’s success in 'Dandupalya', Vishal says that 'Hoovi' will have a different flavour. “Pooja will almost have the same look like Katrina Kaif in 'Rajneeti'. But that does not mean my film is a remake. In fact, my film is based more on current issues of teen molestation in public,” he says.

Of course, Vishal is surprised to hear that Pooja has made an announcement without even informing him that she has backed out from the film.

“I was not aware of this until a few people called and asked me whether Pooja is not doing the film, as she never informed me directly. I am only waiting for her call so that we can sort out the dates,” he tells us.
