V Samudra’s directorial Ranam has turned into a multi-starrer with Chiranjeevi Sarja coming on board. Two heroes –— Chiranjeevi and Chetan Kumar — will share screen space for the first time in the film made under RS Productions. As reported earlier in City Express, Chetan will be playing a revolutionist in Samudra’s directorial. The latest is that  Chiranjeevi will be donning the role of a police officer.

“Chetan’s looks are on the lines of revolutionary freedom fighter, Che Guevara. Chiranjeevi plays an encounter specialist in our film,” the director reveals. While Chetan is said to have completed shoot for his portions, Chiranjeevi will continue shooting for the next fifteen days. The latter was approached for the role a couple of months ago, and the film’s schedule was planned according to the actor’s dates.

The makers have supposedly approached a Sandalwood superstar for the cameo, and are waiting for the go-ahead from him to make an official announcement. “We are in talks with a top actor, who we feel fits perfectly in to the character we have sketched. We have briefed him about his role. We are awaiting his response,” says the director.

While eighty percent of the shoot is complete, what remains to be shot are Chiranjeevi’s bits, and the cameo. Samudra, a well-known director in Tollywood, has worked in 14 films before venturing into making his first Kannada movie. Having started his directorial career with Simharasi, Samudra has helmed films like Mahanandi, Vijayadasami, among others.  This project is being made in two languages, Kannada and Telugu, for which he has roped in regional artistes. Eight new faces including Nithu Gowda are part of the cast.

Produced by R Srinivas, the Kannada version has Gurukiran as music director and Niranjan Babu as cinematographer.
