Loving on the edge

Thrill crazy, Love crazy and Kill crazy. It can be a fitting tag to the romantic flick ‘I Love Me’. With its spick action sequences and gripping twists, the upcoming movie by B Unnikrishnan falls to the category of an action thriller. The film starring Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan, Anoop Menon and Isha Talwar shows the erratic expedition of a group of ambitious youngsters and their transformation from loving only themselves to others as well.

The director, who is headlong busy with the final works of the film which is to release on December 21, says, “As the title implies ‘I Love Me’ is about the individuals of today, who are absorbed with themselves. They live in a self-made cocoon, with material gains being their sole aspiration in life. The film tells about four such youngsters, in a breezy way.” This is Unnikrishnan’s second movie of the year, the first being the action thriller, ‘Grandmaster’ that fared well at box office.

Sethu, (of Sachi-Sethu duo), who has a hit movie, ‘Mallusingh’ in his kitty has penned the script of the film. This is for the first time another scriptwriter pens for Unnikrishnan, about which the director says, “I have a comfort level with Sethu, who can share my views on cinema.”

Sethu speaks more about the film. “Savvi (Unni Mukundan) and Prem (Asif Ali) are two small town youths with criminal background. Bangkok based businessman Ram Mohan (Anoop Menon) invites them over there to operate a covert action. Samantha (Isha Talwar), the secretary of Ram Mohan, also joins them. They all get along with each other only to realise that they have a single aim, that of personal gain. What awaits them forms the suspense of the film,” says Sethu. “The film falls to the category of romantic thriller,” says the scriptwriter who adds that it has all the elements that makes it a commercial entertainer, that can be enjoyed by all.

Except for a few scenes, the shooting of the whole film was in Bangkok. In Kerala, the location was Kochi. Other actors of the film are Vanitha Krishnachandran, Biju Pappan, Indrans, and Vijayakumar. Mumbai model Kadambari marks her Malayalam debut through ‘I Love Me’. She plays the role of Susan, an Indian girl residing in Bangkok.

Deepak Dev gives music to the lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahmed and B K Harinarayanan. Kartik and Swetha Mohan are the singers. The songs including ‘Divanishakal..’ and ‘Mazhayayi..’ are already in the hit charts. Another highlight of the movie will be the sleek and picturesque frames portrayed by Satheesh Kurup, who cranks the camera. The film is produced by Vaishaka Rajan under the banner of Vaishaka Cynyma.
