Where the Wild Meets the Wit

The man who churned out Amen, an enticing venture with elements of satire and magical realism that went on to gain a cult status, is set to embark on a wild journey this time. Lijo Jose Pellissery, the director who loves experimenting, is set to explore a different genre where wild meets wit.

As he puts it in Facebook, Double Barrel, his latest outing, is going to  be all about “Cuban cigars and crisp beer, dapper suits and sharp boots, leather jackets meet Ray Bans, Jimmy Choos and Louis Vuitton, sexy cars and killing machines.”

Lijo Jose, who treads a terrain unfamiliar to Malayalam through Double Barrel, says his next venture is a wild ride with maximum style quotient. “A gangster movie with lot of fun in the backdrop of Goa,” says the director.

And, before you get ideas, Lijo clarifies that there is nothing ‘Tarantino-esque’ in Double Barrel. “Double Barrel is not inspired by the works of Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie. Like anybody else, I love the works of Tarantino and enjoy them thoroughly. But, Double Barrel has nothing to do with that,” says Lijo Jose Pellissery.

The film boasts of an ensemble cast with Prithviraj, Fahad Fasil and Indrajith playing the lead characters. “There is equal importance for female characters. We are on a hunt for the female lead,” says the director.

The film that will go on the floors by mid June will be produced by August Cinema India Pvt Ltd and Amen Movie Monastery, a  production house supported  by Lijo Jose Pellissery himself.

The poster of the movie which was released by the director in his Facebook page has already been received well with the quirky tag on the poster ‘Adiyalla Vedi’ giving a hint of what is in store.
