'Badai Bungalow' - Inciting a Laugh Riot

‘Badai Bungalow’ is peppered with every ingredient to make it the flavour of  the season. An actor/comic unparalleled, Malayalam’s own standup comedian, a producer known to juggle lampoonery and a crackling script, the mix is perfect.

But, producer Diana Silvester says it was pretty easy for her considering  the fact that she helmed the very risky ‘Cinemala’ for 1,000 episodes.

“Badai Bungalow has a tight script prepared well in advance to back it up.  That gives the show, which is in its 110th episode, a perfect foundation. We know about the guest beforehand so things are pretty easy,” says Diana. The script is penned by Madhu Kalabhavan, Siju Irumbanam and Murali.

Diana says the idea of the show popped up after Asianet wound up ‘Cinemala’. “The channel wanted something on the lines of ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ and thus we came up with Badai Bungalow. Ramesh Pisharody was already a known comedian and we knew he would fit in effortlessly but we wanted someone who would be unparalleled when it comes to spontaneity and comic timing and that’s when we knew nobody can be better than Mukesh. We approached him and he readily agreed,” says Diana.

Crew

Diana Silverster says one reason why the show is an instant hit is that for all of them, including Mukesh, the humour comes from within. “Even for the guest and its actors, there should be a sense of humour within them or else it will fall flat, despite how much ever popular the face is. This is one reason why the show gets so much TRPs,” says Diana.

Badai Bangalow stars Praseedha, Manoj, Dharmajan and Arya besides Mukesh and Pisharody.

“The only new face was Arya. I saw her performing at a comic skit and knew she had a great comedy timing and that is how we signed her for the show,” says Diana.

Mukesh the Pillar

The producer says the show owes much to Mukesh who inimitable comic timing just leaves the audience in splits.

“Even in a comic show, a lot goes on in editing table, but in Badai Bungalow, Mukesh makes it perfect. His reactions, as you all know, are spot on. He is the life of the show,” says Diana.

According to her, the actor also shares a great rapport with the guest and other actors alike.
