A Merry triangle

A sizzling triangle can spice up any bland storyline and when two lasses vie for the same guy, there is bound to have some drama. Hitting the marquee tomorrow is ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’, Sajan K Mathew’s frothy rom-com starring Unni Mukundan, Sanusha and Prayaga in the leads. “But it’s not the regular boy-caught-between-girls formula. The basic storyline is a blend of romance, humour, mystery and suspense,” says the director.

Prakashan, the character played by Unni Mukundan is smitten by Aswathy, the village beauty. “She belongs to an affluent family and Prakashan, an electrician by profession, keeps his love a secret. He plans to express his love after winning the local wrestling competition, which he has been losing for the last four years.  While he is waiting for that Parvathy, another girl, enters his life. ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’ is woven around these three characters,” he says. While Sanusha essays Aswathy on screen, Prayaga Martin steps into the role of Parvathy. “Aju Varghese, who appears as an astrologer, plays another key role. Biju Kuttan, Kochu Preman, Narayanankutty, Sudhi Koppa, Saddique, Prashanth, Bindu Panicker and Seema G Nair are also part of the cast,” he adds.

Sajan says though ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’ is basically a rom-com there are elements of mystery and fantasy in it. “The story is set in a village called Mallapuram and the backdrop of wrestling is an important element.” Does that mean the film is filled with action sequences? “No. Though the hero is a wrestler the film has zero stunt scenes. There is only wrestling and no action,” he says.

He adds the title ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’ totally gels with the romantic theme of the film. “It has no connection with ‘Manichitrathazhu’ or the song in it. It simply means what it means,” he explains. ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’, produced by Siyad Kokkar under the banner of Kokers Entertainment, hits the screens tomorrow.
