Lucifer to go on floors in May 2018

Prithviraj’s directorial debut has Mohanlal in the lead.

One of the most anticipated project of next year, Mohanlal-starrerLucifer,  which marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj, will go on the floors by May 2018.

This was confirmed by producer Antony Perumbavoor, who bankrolls the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. He was speaking after Prithviraj and scriptwriter Murali Gopy met Antony Perumbavoor and Mohanlal at the latter’s home in Kochi. The Lucifer team took to Facebook to announce the details of the project.

Expressing excitement over associating with Prithviraj and Murali Gopy,  Mohanlal said it may be for the first time that a young actor, who is in the prime of his career, is venturing into direction. “Both Murali and Prithviraj are my friends and I have known them from their childhood. It would be my pleasure to associate with them. However, it is their  responsibility to come up with a good movie,” said Mohanlal.

On whether he would act in the movie, director Prithviraj said he hasn’t   decided on it yet. “We haven’t fleshed out the script yet. Right now, we have just the one-liner. Once we do that, we will decide on the casting. If I feel that a character would be better if Prithviraj plays it, then I might think about it,” says Prithviraj. He added that the story is set in Kerala.

He, however, downplayed the meeting saying that it is just a director  meeting a hero. “Since we announced Lucifer, this is the first time that I could meet Lalettan, as we both were busy with our careers. However, today  is the kick off day of my directorial debut,” he added.
On the budget of the movie, Antony Perumbavoor said that it is too early to think about it and the movie will be made with the budget it requires.

“Though there were speculations regarding Lucifer for sometime, this is the  first time that we are sitting together to discuss the project. Though we plan to release it next year, we can’t assure a final date,” he said.

Murali Gopy said Lucifer will be written keeping in mind the huge fan base of Mohanlal. “Our prime character is played by an actor who has a massive fan base. The movie will definitely satisfy them. But, at the same time it won’t be just a fan feast,” he added.

Meanwhile, Antony Perumbavoor said that Aashirvad Cinemas will be bankrolling five projects including Lal Jose directorial next starring Mohanlal in the lead. The movie has gone on floors.
