Tovino’s next is Maradona but it’s not about football

The movie will be directed by debutant Vishnu Narayanan.

Tovino Thomas, who is riding high after the success of Godha, has signed his next, titled Maradona.The movie will be helmed by Vishnu Narayanan, who has been an associate of Aashiq Abu, Dileesh Pothan and Sameer Thahir.

The film will be produced by Tamil actor Dhanush’s Mini Studio, under the banner of Wunderbar Films.  
Maradona, however, has nothing to do with football, said the director.  “It is a feel-good movie with elements of an action thriller,” he added.

This was announced at a press conference held in Kochi the other day. Tovino, Dileesh Pothen and Aashiq Abu attended the meet.But, Tovino said it is the wonderful script that lured him to Maradona. “Vishnu has a vast experience in this industry. I listened to the script while doing Godha and instantly said yes to the project,” he added.

Maradona will have newbie Sharanya R Nair playing the lead lady opposite Tovino. Chemban Vinod, Angamaly Diaries fame Tito Wilson and Kichu Tellus and Leona Lishoy will do prominent roles. The movie is scripted by Krishnamoorthy, who has previously assisted Lijo Jose Pellissery and Dileesh Pothan. Sushin Shyam will handle the music.

The shooting of the movie would begin at Chavakkad on July 30. Wayanad and Bangalore are other locations. 

According to the director, the movie is scheduled to be released in 2018.Maradona will also mark Tovino’s second association with Wunderbar Films, the first being Arun Dominic’s Tharangam.
