Ahead of the RK Nagar constituency bypoll which is to be held on April 12, BJP candidate for the constituency and music composer Gangai Amaran met 'Superstar' Rajinikanth on Tuesday which led to a lot of speculations that the Kabali star was in favour of the BJP.

Venkat Prabhu, popular filmmaker and son of Gangai Amaran, had put out a tweet that Rajinikanth had wished his dad success.

Rajinikanth, however, declared on Twitter that he is not backing anyone for the election. His tweet reads," My support is for no one in the coming elections."

Tamil Nadu's RK Nagar constituency fell vacant after the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who passed away on December 5, 2016.

Everyone's attention will be on the bypoll next month, as its is set to be an intense battle with AIADMK's
deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran contesting against AIADMK veteran and former minister E
Madhusudhanan from the O Panneerselvam-led AIADMK breakaway faction,  and Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar, BJP's Gangai Amaran and DMK's N Maruthuganesh.

In a turn of events that makes this election tougher for Dhinakaran, the Election Commission froze AIADMK's 'Two Leaves' symbol and prohibited both factions from using the AIADMK name.
