Ode to Operation Vijay: How the Express covered the Kargil War

On this day in 1999, the Kargil War formally came to an end, with Indian soldiers successfully recapturing strategic mountain peaks that had been seized by Pakistani intruders. The Kargil War was the first time India and Pakistan got into an armed conflict after becoming nuclear powers. It was the result of infiltration by Pakistani soldiers into India across the LoC.
