Dharwad building collapse: What we know so far

15 people have died so far in the building collapsed in Karnataka's Dharwad four days ago.

A civil engineer who visited the accident spot said the pillar and slab concrete of the building have no adequate amount of jelly stone and the steel used was not as per the grade. “The jelly stones act as binding cement, sand and steel and give strength to concrete. Due to the lack of jelly stones, weakness might have developed in the pillars and resulting in the cracks,” he said. (Photo | D Hemanth, EPS)

The five accused have been booked under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) of the IPC.
