NEW DELHI: At least five foreign nationals travelling on Air India’s Sydney-Delhi flight were on Tuesday detained, soon after the flight landed at Delhi’s IGI airport on charges of misbehaving with a woman crew member.
Air India sources said that the foreign nationals were later released on a surety and bond after the intervention of their respective embassies here in New Delhi.
Those detained include three Australians, including a 55-year-old female, a 56-year old Italian and 44-year old woman from New Zealand who were all flying on AI’s Sydney-Delhi flight.
According to AI officials, the woman crew member accused them of misbehaving, assaulting and threatening her on the flight. She registered a complaint against the five foreign nationals.
Accordingly action under rule 22 of Aircraft act has been taken against the five foreign nationals, said an Air India official.
