SRINAGAR: The tension gripped Srinagar after a youth was killed in alleged firing of security forces in uptown Srinagar on Saturday evening.

Sources said a youth was hit by bullets allegedly fired by security personnel during minor clashes at SD colony in Batamaloo in uptown Srinagar this evening.

The youth identified as Sajad Hussain Sheikh of Chandoosa area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district was shifted to a local hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

After the killing of youth, Srinagar was tense.

Kashmir is already tense after fresh videos of army men beating the local youth went viral today.

In view of apprehension of tension tomorrow, a reputed private school, which had decided to keep school open tomorrow, had now decided to keep the school close tomorrow.

A police spokesman while confirming the killing, said police is collecting the details.

“Police is looking into the circumstances under which the youth got killed,” he said.

The police spokesman said District Police administration Srinagar has informed that there was no deployment in the area.

“The matter is being investigated,” he said.

Earlier, body of a youth, who was abducted by unknown persons from his house at Khahipora area of Qazigund area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was recovered from an orchard in a nearby area this morning.

The body had bullet injuries on head.

The deceased has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Dar, 25. 

According to his family, he had gone to a local playground yesterday evening and went missing. 

The deceased was running a family fruit business.

A police spokesman said police has registered a case and launched investigation.
