Congress conspired to kill me: Pragya Thakur

She also said that the mental and physical torture unleashed by the Mumbai ATS on her hasn't been done to any woman in the history of independent India or prior to that.

BHOPAL: "Congress people had conspired to eliminate me," said 2008 Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur on Thursday.

Two days after the Bombay High Court granted her bail in the case, Thakur was released from judicial custody at the Pandit Khushilal Sharma Ayurveda hospital in Bhopal on Thursday.

However, the breast cancer-afflicted Thakur will continue to undergo treatment at the same hospital, where she has admitted since 2015 end.

"The UPA government and the Congress hatched a conspiracy to implicate me in a false case," alleged Thakur while talking to journalists after her release from judicial custody.

She added that the mental and physical torture unleashed by the Mumbai ATS on me while holding me captive illegally in October 2008 hasn't been done to any woman in the history of independent India or prior to that.

"I was illegally taken from Surat to Mumbai on October 10, 2008 and held captive for 13 days by the ATS. In captivity I was subjected to unimaginable torture by all male cops. The torture was so brutal that it even led to the rupturing of the membrane of my lungs after which I was kept on ventilator for five days," said partially paralysed Thakur.

"It's that torture only which is responsible for my present physical state. Those responsible for the torture,  included then Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare, one cop named Khanwilkar and Paramveer Singh presently a senior cop in Thane. I would never forgive them and will seek legal recourse for punishing them," she added.

Slamming the UPA and Congress leaders, Thakur said the word saffron terror was coined by then Union minister P Chidambaram.

She maintained that while the UPA government and Congress had tried to frame her in a false case, the present Central government will at least not conspire against her, but help her get justice.

The Bombay High Court had granted Thakur bail in the 2008 Malegaon blast case on April 25.

Meanwhile, her personal doctor DR SS Rajput (a cardio thoracic surgeon in Lucknow)  said it was the critical spine injuries sustained possibly during the ATS torture that led to Thakur becoming partially paralysed and dependent on others. "We'll decide in coming days whether to proceed with her medical treatment in Mumbai or Lucknow," Rajput told TNIE.
