LUCKNOW: As per Google trends, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has left many of his counterparts in other states behind and has been shown as the most searched politician among CMs across the nation. As per the trends, CM Yogi is ahead of CMs of the BJP ruled states, including MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

The trends show that nearly 70% of the searches were targeted at Yogi right from the north-east including Tripura, Nagaland to states and Union territories like UP, Dadar and Nagar Haveli. The Google trends have put Yogi Adityanath much ahead of UP's two regional stalwarts and former CMs -- BSP supremo Mayawati and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. However, while Mayawati has never be active on social media personally but SP chief Akhilesh Yadav remained quite visible, especially, on Twitter and Facebook.

However, the BJP ranks and files also believe that Google trends essentially reflect his popularity chart.

"It can be attributed to his way of working. His pan-India appeal has been reflected in many states earlier during the polls and otherwise also where he has taken the party campaigns further like Gujarat, Himachal, Karnataka and Kerala, says party s[okeamn Dr Chandra Mohan. As per the IT experts, the trends are an indication of searches about Yogi and it did not perceive as the scale of his popularity.

BJP sources, however, believe that the virtue of a Mahant becoming the CM of as important and crucial a state as Uttar Pradesh might have increased people's inquisitiveness about Yogi. Even the Nath sect, to which Yogi belongs, may have contributed significantly in him becoming the most searched politician, especially, when five states are set to go to polls and the party has been using the UP CM as its star campaigner in various states earlier also. "Even in these state polls, the party is using him as star campaigner in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan," said a senior party functionary. Political experts said that people following Nath sect have a significant presence in various states including poll-bound Rajasthan.
