New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) The Financial Services Commission,Mauritius today said it has opened its representative officein Mumbai, a move that will further strengthen and deepen itspartnership with its Indian counterparts.

The Financial Services Commission, is the integratedregulator for the non-bank financial services sector inMauritius.

The representative of the Commission in India will be P KKuriachen. He was former Chief General Manager of Sebi andhas been closely involved with the Commission over the years.

"The setting up of the FSC Mauritius office in Mumbaiwill enlarge the scope of collaboration between both theregulators," said S Ravindran, Executive Director of Sebi.

The office of the Commission is currently housed withinthe Mauritius Consulate in Mumbai.

"Through this office, we will remain connected to thelatest development in the Indian financial services landscape,including the regulatory and business environment," saidHarvesh Seegolam, the Chief Executive of the Commission.

Through its presence in Mumbai, the Commission isestablishing the mechanism to further strengthen and deepenits partnership with its Indian counterparts across varioussegments in line with international best practices in thefields of capacity building, financial literacy and exchangeof expertise, the Commission said in a release.

More than 100 professionals from the Indian financialservices industry, including high level representatives of theSecurities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) attended theevent held in Mumbai yesterday. PTI DRRSBT.
