New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) A Chinese man has been arrestedby the customs for allegedly trying to smuggle into thecountry gold worth about Rs 35 lakh at Delhi's internationalairport, according to an official statement today.

The 48-year-old accused was intercepted after his arrivalfrom Hong Kong yesterday.

"A detailed personal and baggage search of the passengerresulted in the recovery of gold articles in the form ofbeads, belt buckle and pendant, total weighing 1.187 kg," thestatement said.

The gold, which has been seized is assessed to be worthRs 34.81 lakh, it said, adding that the Chinese man has beenarrested. PTI AKVSMN.
