Will complete Polavaram by 2018: Chandrababu Naidu

ELURU: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the Polavaram irrigation project works are going on speedily to complete the project by 2018 rainy season. He visited the Polavaram project site at Ramayyapeta in Polavaram mandal of West Godavari district and inspected the ongoing works on Tuesday.

Interacting with the media here, the Chief Minister said that the government has decided to complete Polavaram Irrigation Project by 2018 and to realise it, the work will be done with the modern machinery. He said he will review the project works through Closed Circuit Cameras every Monday from his office and visit the project site every third Monday of the month.

Naidu said that the Centre was extending cooperation in completion of the project and thanked the Prime Minister for according the national project status to the project and funding the entire project.

"The officials and contract agencies would chalk out an action plan to settle the problems that will arise during construction works," he said. It may be recalled that so far during the last two years, the Chief Minister visited the Polavaram project 13 times.

He said the dream of four and half decades has come true with the cooperation of BJP government. The chief minister criticised the opposition leaders for raising their voice against the Polavaram project.

He said, "They would not accept the development of the state and are creating hurdles. They are behaving like a maniac,” he alleged. He said that the TDP Government will complete the projects at any cost within the stipulated time. He added he is giving much priority to the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh and assured all necessary assistance to the oustees of Polavaram project.
