CBI arrests ONGC Deputy General Manager over corruption charges in Visakhapatnam

The CBI said that Oil and Natural Gas Corporation DGM Ramana was trapped while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,00,000 from a contractor to help him in a tender process.

VISHAKAPATNAM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  on Thursday arrested Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Deputy General Manager (Technical) P. Venkata Ramana over charges of corruption.
 
The CBI said that Ramana was trapped while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,00,000 from a contractor to help him in a tender process.
 
The bribe amount of Rs. 4,00,000 was seized.

Search at the residence of the DGM was conducted and several properties including luxury house at Kakinada , one flat at Vijayawada, Fixed Deposits worth Rs. 37 lakh, Rs. 1, 65,000 cash , several bank accounts and two lockers owned by the accused have been unearthed.
 
In this regard, a case was registered by the CBI under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The investigation is under way.
