Health minister Kamineni Srinivasa Rao is ready to discuss with Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare JP Nadda regarding the allotment of exam centres for NEET-Under Graduate.

VIJAYAWADA: Health minister Kamineni Srinivasa Rao is ready to discuss with Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare JP Nadda regarding the allotment of exam centres for NEET-Under Graduate.

At a department review meeting here on Wednesday, Kamineni discussed the implementation of ‘Arogya Raksha’ Scheme and other issues. Later, he told mediamen that there was a need to establish more examination centres for NEET-UG, as students may face hurdles in reaching the two corners of the State.

“Apart from the Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam centres, we also demand to set up one in Kurnool, Tirupati and Rajamahendravaram. We will also request the Ministry to reduce the qualifying marks for the students of AP, as majority of the medical seats would remain vacant," he added.

He said 110 NTR diagnostic centres received an ISO certification and the mother labs got accredited with NABL certification. “We are also engaging equipment maintenance contract where any emergency equipment like CT Scan, Cathlab, etc., would be repaired or replaced in 48 hours. Also, experienced persons would be appointed to work on these machines. Dialysis centres at Uddanam, to be set up by April 5, will have all amenities to meet the medical requirements,” he explained.
