First swine flu death in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

The victim was admitted with fever and symptoms of Swine Flu and died While undergoing treatment.

GUNTUR:  In the first ever case of swine flu death in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, a three-year-old girl died due to H1N1 influenza (swine flu) at the Guntur Government Hospital (GGH) at midnight Monday.

The hospital’s superintendent Dr D S Raju Naidu said the victim was admitted in the hospital on February 18 with fever and symptoms of swine flu. She was placed in an isolation ward and treated. Her throat swabs were sent for analysis and returned positive for swine flu on Tuesday.

Doctors said the girl's family and her neighbours in Bobbepalli in Marturu mandal of Prakasam district have been vaccinated.
