Telangana wants Andhra to come up with proposal to absorb native staff

Energy secretaries of the sister Telugu States held a meeting on how to deal with 1,100 power sector employees, who were relieved by Telangana but not accepted by Andhra Pradesh.

HYDERABAD: Energy secretaries of the sister Telugu States held a meeting on how to deal with 1,100 power sector employees, who were relieved by Telangana but not accepted by Andhra Pradesh.

The meeting was held at the Telangana Secretariat on Saturday and AP and TS Energy secretaries Ajay Jain and Ajay Mishra respectively, were also present.

It may be recalled that it was recently decided to create extra posts for absorbing native staff and address the problems of power sector employees. The TS power utility relieved around 1,100 employees, all natives of Andhra but the AP power utility refused to absorb them.

As per the court directions, the staff continued in TS where they are being collectively paid a sum of around `25 crore in salaries each month, in spite of not working. In Saturday’s meeting, the TS officials said they had relieved the native AP employees and that further steps would be taken only after the AP came out with a proposal on it.

Around 200 employees from Telangana were working in AP power utility and TS had decided to take them back. AP and TS will now present their views on power employees before the next meeting to be held at Raj Bhavan.
