TTD puts off hike in price of laddu; Rs 86 crore-worth developmental works sanctioned

TIRUMALA: The TTD Trust Board has deferred the decision to hike the price of famed Tirumala laddu till next meeting, TTD chairman Chadalawada Krsihna Murthy said here on Monday.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said: "The TTD Trust Board has approved Rs 86 crore worth development works during its board meeting, of which Rs 53 crore is towards housekeeping and management services in Tirumala.” 

He said that to improve accommodation facility in Tirumala, the board sanctioned Rs 39 crore for the construction of Vakulamata Rest House in Tirumala with a spacious parking facility and 270 rooms. “Construction of two-storeyed Kalyana Mandapam in Appalayagunta with Rs 3.1 crore and Rs 1.42 crore towards reconstruction of Sri Sambandhu Sekhara Swamy Devasthanam in Duggirala village in West Godavari district,” he said.

Krishnamurthy said that construction of Kalyana Mandapam in Rayachoti of YSR Kadapa district at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore and development of Sri Tirupati Devarayalu Devasthanam in Nasanakota of Anantapur district at a cost of Rs 1.18 crore too have been sanctioned. “For repairs of choultry in Annapureddipalle in Khammam Rs 37 lakh has been sanctioned for Srivasapura Venkateswara Swamy in Velagalapalli of Kurnool district at Rs 27.90 lakh and Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple in Armuru of Nizamabad district at Rs 31.25 lakh,” he said.

The chairman further said that Rs 21.15 lakh has been sanctioned towards reconstruction of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy in Kondepi mandal of Prakasam district and Rs 30 lakh for the construction of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Vaddadi village and Rs 12 lakh for Sri Poturaju Babu temple construction in Vaddadi village of Vizag. “An amount of Rs 25 lakh has been approved for the construction of Prakaram Mandapam of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Chillakuru mandal of Nellore district,” he said.
