VIJAYAWADA: The resignation submitted by Justice KL Manjunath was accepted by the State government on Monday. According to sources, Manjunath submitted his resignation 20 days ago resenting the decision of the government to accept the report of the BC Commission members and providing 5% reservation to Kapus, which is one of the major poll promises made by the TDP during the 2014 elections.
In the absence of Manjunath, the committee members submitted the report to the government allowing it to go ahead with providing reservations to Kapus in education and employment. But, Manjunath, who took charge as Chairman of the BC Commission on 29 January, 2016 for a three-year tenure, submitted his resignation on 20 March this year, reportedly opposing the government’s decision to accept the report submitted by the commission members without his consent.
