VIJAYAWADA: Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has said that a delegation from the department will camp in New Delhi for a week from Monday to clarify all the queries with regard to the revised cost estimates of the Polavaram project. He also said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would dedicate the second phase of Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Project to the nation on August 15.

The minister, who participated in the 116th birth anniversary celebrations of KL Rao on Sunday, said, “The officials will submit all the necessary documents to the Ministry of Water Resources and Central Water Commission. We also plan to complete the concrete work of the national project by February.”

It may be recalled that two teams have been staying in the national capital for quite some time to answer the questions raised by the Union Ministry regarding the revised detailed project report (DPR) of Polavaram project. However, following the request of Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari, the State government has decided to send another team. Devineni said that the efforts to make the State drought-free were underway through interlinking of rivers.
