Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams mulls legal battle on ‘defamation’ in Tirumala

In the next board meeting scheduled to be held on June 26, the TTD Board members are invited to inspect the temple jewels.

TIRUMALA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board of Trustees has decided to take Agama advisors’ opinion on the proposed display of Srivari jewels and legal opinion as to how to proceed against the former chief priest AV Ramana Deekshitulu for his derogatory comments against the TTD. The issue of Ramana Deekshitulu was discussed at length during the TTD Board meeting held at Tirumala on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Putta Sudhakar Yadav. It was decided to take the legal recourse on the issue.

“We have sought the opinion of our legal advisors as to how to proceed legally against those who raised doubts over the safety of jewels and also other aspects pertaining to Tirumala temple and TTD administration,” TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal told mediapersons after the end of the board meeting. He explained that they had submitted all media data to the legal cell so as to finalise the names against whom to file defamation cases.

Taking exception to Ramana Deekshitulu going to the media in Chennai and other places to air his grievances, TTD Chairman Sudhakar Yadav said he should have first discussed the issue with the TTD at Tirumala. “All jewels of Lord Venkateswara as mentioned in Thiruvabharanam register are safe. If Agamas permit, we are ready to display the jewellery to the public,” he said. The EO said in the next board meeting scheduled to be held on June 26, the TTD Board members are invited to inspect the temple jewels.

11 sub-panels set up
To enhance the quality of service to pilgrims, 11 sub-committees were formed by the TTD Trust Board on Tuesday. The sub-committees include BIRRD, SVIMS, FMS, Kalyana Mandapam Maintenance, Cottages, Donor Privileges, Marketing, Engineering, Investment, HDPP and New Delhi. Certain privileges which are being extended to the donors donating foreign currency to the TTD corpus or Hundi, will also be extended to the donors who will be donating foreign currency to TTD Trusts.
