BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of the interlocutory applications (IAs) relating to Kambala (buffalo race) by two weeks.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice RB Budihal postponed the hearing of applications for two weeks, saying that the Jallikattu issue is still pending before the Apex Court.

The bench observed that it will hear the Kambala issue after Supreme Court decides the Jallikattu matter which will be up for hearing on Tuesday.

The Udupi District Kambala Committee and Dakshina Kannada's Vijay Vikram Jodukare Kambala Committee filed IAs seeking to vacate the interim order dated November 22, 2016 wherein the organisers were restrained from holding Kambala events.

The interim order was passed by the division bench while hearing the public interest litigation filed by PETA challenging the event.

Stating that Kambala was wrongly classified with Tamil Nadu's Jallikattu, the organisers contended that the state had constituted a committee to monitor the event and event will be held under the supervision of the committee.
