I spent about 6 hrs each day to study: Karnataka second topper in IIT-Joint Entrance Examination

In 2018, 800 supernumerary seats have been created specifically for female candidates in IITs in order to improve the gender balance in IITs as per government directives.

BENGALURU: Arihant Samar, a native of Udaipur, Rajasthan, with an All India Rank (AIR) of 113,  is the second topper from the state in the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), the results of which were announced on Sunday. Speaking on his success mantra, he said, “I was just focused on making sure I knew all the concepts, and practised solving different kinds of questions.”Arihant spent about 5-6 hours each day to study, apart from attending classes.“I also had to reduce the duration of other recreational activities, but never felt it to be a burden because I really like all three subjects,” he said. Arihant hopes to carry out research on Artificial Intelligence later in his career.

Aniruddha R Latkar, a student of Deeksha PU College, got an AIR of 179. “Now I plan to pursue Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay or IIT Madras. I would like to tell my juniors to study well from the first year itself,” he said.Nithin Krishna hailing from Andhra Pradesh, with an AIR of 273, is another topper and a student of Narayana School. He says he mostly focused on preparation for JEE and did not give a lot of preference to Board Examinations, but still managed to get 96.2 per cent in them. Speaking of plans ahead, he said, “I want to start something of my own, and IIT is the place where you can meet the right people to pursue that.” Most of his preparation was limited to classes, with minimal self-study.
Tuhin Girinath, the son of BWSSB chairman and IAS officer Tushar Girinath, secured a rank of 340. The student of Narayana E-Techno School, Kundalahalli had secured fourth rank in CET (Engineering) and topped the BPharm and PharmD streams.

All India Topper

The all-India topper for JEE (Advanced) is Panchkula’s Pranav Goyal with a score of 337.Among the girls, Kota’s Meenal Parakh was first with an AIR of 6. A total of 18,138 students from the 1,55,158 who appeared for the exam have qualified for entry into the prestigious IITs . This is more than 1.6 times the number of seats that are being offered, as per a press statement on this year’s results.Of the total qualified candidates, 2,076 are females. IIT -Kanpur was the official convener of JEE (Advanced) this year. A total of 11,279 seats are being offered in the IITs.

In 2018, 800 supernumerary (in excess of the normal number) seats have been created specifically for female candidates in IITs in order to improve the gender balance in IITs as per government directives. As per provisions, total supernumerary seats created cannot exceed 10 per cent of the total seats being offered in the IITs.

CET topper Shridhar Doddamani gets AIR 3,730

Shridhar Doddamani of Vijayapura, who was the state topper in CET (Engineering) and secured a rank of 105 in NEET, qualified with an AIR of 3,730 in JEE (Advanced). His father Sanganabassappa said Shridhar preferred to get admission in an IIT in the Electronics or Electrical stream, failing which he would take admission at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.
