BJP worker hacked

THRISSUR: A BJP worker was hacked at Pavaratty here on Friday. Kalapuraikal Vishnuprasad, 28, son of Kannan, Thiranellur, was attacked by a gang that arrived in a car around 10.30 am on Friday. Vishnuprasad, who suffered injuries on head, hands and legs, has been admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur.

The BJP alleged that CPM was behind the attack. Vishnuprasad’s brother Vijay Sankar is the seventh accused in the murder of Pavaratty Shihabudheen, a CPM activist. “The attackers knocked down Vishnuprasad’s bike with the car and hacked him. He tried to escape into a nearby house. The attackers followed him and hacked him again in front of the house. Vishnuprasad ran away and boarded into an autorickshaw. The driver helped him escape from the spot,” Pavaratty police said. Later, he was admitted to a hospital in Thrissur.  

Hospital authorities said that the condition of Vishnuprasad is critical.  In the wake of the incident, security has been strengthened in the area under the supervision of P Sivadasan, ACP, Guruvayoor.
