Kerala Engineering Entrance: Boys outshine girls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Boys outshone girls by bagging top 10 ranks in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination-2017, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. Shafil Maheen N bagged the first rank with a score of 587.13.

The student from Kozhikode had earlier secured the all-India fourth rank in JEE Advanced Entrance Examination. Vedant Prakash Shenoy (580.81) and Abhilash Kar (579.60) from from Kottayam district clinched the second and third slots respectively. In the Scheduled Caste category, Indrajith C from Malappuram and Aswin Viswanath from Wayanad bagged the first two ranks. In the Scheduled Tribes category, Gibin George from Kottayam and Aswin P from Kasargod emerged toppers.

Out  of the 72,440 students who qualified in the entrance examination, 61,716 candidates, who had submitted the details of marks scored in the Plus Two examination, have figured in the rank list. Owing to discrepancies in the application, the results of 107 candidates have been withheld. While 87 boys figured in the top 100 ranks, 13 girls found a place in the same slot. Announcing the results in the absence of the Education Minister, General Education Secretary Usha Titus said options would be invited from students from June 22 and the first allotment for engineering courses will be carried out before June 30.  While the second allotment will be carried out before July 10, the thrid and final allotment will be conducted before July 20. The deadline for filling vacant engineering seats and completing the admission process is August 14.

Pharmacy entrance

The rank list for admission to pharmacy courses has been prepared after taking into account the marks scored in paper I (physics and chemistry) of the engineering entrance examination. Alif Anshil C P from Malappuram, Sudip Maji from Kottayam and Naquash Nazar from Kozhikode have won the top three ranks.
