PM to set Kochi Metro rolling on June 17

 Clearing doubts over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s availability for the inauguration of  Kochi Metro, the PM’s office has intimated the Chief Minister’s office Modi will open the urban rail network

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Clearing doubts over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s availability for the inauguration of  Kochi Metro, the PM’s office has intimated the Chief Minister’s office Modi will open the urban rail network on June 17. 


“Modi will inaugurate the Metro services at a function to be held at Aluva,” the CM’s office told Express. Chief Minister’s Private Secretary M V Jayarajan confirmed Officer-on-Special Duty at the CM’s office M Sivasankaran had received a message in this regard from the PMO.


There had been a controversy on the alleged move to avoid the PM from the inauguration of the dream project citing the Prime Minister's office had not given a date despite the state government’s request. Earlier, Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran had stated the PMO had not responded to the state's request for the PM's date.
