BJP Jana Raksha Yatra: 50,000 workers to attend finale

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Over 50,000 party workers and sympathisers will join the Jana Raksha Yatra led by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan when it reaches Sreekariam on October 17. “BJP national president Amit Shah will join the padayatra at Sreekariam and walk all the way to  Putharikandam.

By the time it reaches Pattom junction, the number of participants will cross 50,000,” BJP district president S Suresh said.

Along with Amith Shah, Central Ministers, national leaders and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states will join the march.

Suresh said there are largescale arrangements for welcoming the yatra which began from Payyannur on October 3. A  public reception will be accorded to the yatra on its arrival at  Sreekariam.

Before joining the yatra, the leaders will visit the houses of Kallampally Rajesh and Mannanthala  Ranjith who were killed in political violence. The yatra which starts at 10.30 am from Cheruvakkal Gangadharan Nair Nagar (the first BJP worker killed in CPM attack in the district)  will proceed through Ulloor,  Kesavadasapuram, and reach Pattom. The yatra will resume its last leg at 3 pm. Amit Shah will board an open vehicle and salute the workers before the beginning of the yatra.

The yatra will move through MG road and culminate at Kallampally Rajesh Nagar (Putharikandom). For the smooth conduct and success of the yatra,  200 organising committee offices have  been set up at the panchayat levels.

101 mahila vilambara jathas,  two-wheeler rallies and prabhatabheri under Yuva Morcha have also been planned.  For the success of the yatra, workers will launch house campaigns in 2,000 booths on October 15 and 16 .  To bring workers to the city, 2,500 vehicles have been arranged.

When the yatra resumes from Pattom at 3 pm, the meeting at Putharikandam will begin.  Workers from Parassala,  Neyyattinkara and Kovalam will reach the meeting venue first.  Workers from the remaining 11 constituencies will accompany Amit Shah.
