Don’t delay compensation to monsoon victims: CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in his review meeting, told the district collectors that the distribution of compensation to victims of monsoon calamities should not be delayed. More than 3,000 people from hundreds of families were rehabilitated to about 123 relief camps. About 450 houses got damaged in the rains and sea erosion.

Drinking water availability should be ensured at places affected by floods. Precautionary measures should be taken to prevent contagious diseases. Hospitals should be equipped to deal with any exigencies. Special attention must be given to those in the relief camps, especially if any of them suffer from diseases.

Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan, Revenue Secretary P H Kurian, CM’s private secretary M V Jayarajan, Principal Chief Secretary Nalini Netto, Principal Secretary V S Senthil and officers with the Disaster Management Wing were also present at the meeting.
