Sabarimala issue: Pinarayi Vijayan is turning out to be the liquidator of CPM, says state BJP chief Sreedharan Pillai

Pillai said that the police brutality and anti-Sabarimala stand taken by the Chief Minister is fast turning CPM into an unpopular outfit.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai has said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is turning out to be the liquidator of the CPM. He was addressing a public meeting here in Thiruvananthapuram before embarking on a one-day fast against the police atrocities on Ayyappa devotees.

Pillai said that the police brutality and anti-Sabarimala stand taken by the Chief Minister is fast turning CPM into an unpopular outfit and this will soon lead to the party’s liquidation and Pinarayi will preside over it. The BJP leader said that both the CPM and the CM have been trying to crush the peaceful agitation carried out by the devotees comprising members of several Hindu movements and organisations including the BJP.

The BJP leader said that there is no court verdict which is above public interest and in democracy people have the last word and their aims and aspirations need to be considered. He added that SC judgement can be criticised and criticisms are essential for the betterment of the society. He said that during the Emergency, the dissent note by Justice HR Khanna became the law of the country later. Similarly,  the dissent note by Justice Indu Malhotra on the entry of women of all ages into Sabarimala cannot be taken lightly.

Pillai said that the party is conducting massive campaigns in front of all district head-quarters by chanting Ayyappa hymns which are inaugurated by the senior leaders. He also said that several leaders from across the political spectrum in the state will join the BJP in the days to come and that there will be quite a few surprises.

Pillai said that on November 2, BJP workers will undertake a pledge in all the 140 Assembly constituencies to protect Ayyappa dharma and on November 3 at Kottayam the party will open a new agitation. The BJP leader said that on November 5 and 6 when the Sabarimala temple opens for Karthika pooja, the party will support devotees who are against the entry of women aged between 10 and 50.

Pillai said that the NDA will be undertaking a rath yatra, “Sabarimala Samrakshana Yatra” from Madhur temple in Kasargod to Pathanamthitta from Novermber 8 to13. It will be led by Pillai and BDJS leader Thushar Vellappally.

The BJP leader's fast was inaugurated by veteran BJP leader O Rajagopal in the presence of party district president S Suresh.
