KOCHI: Intelligence officers in Kerala have sought the support of their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in collecting information on trouble-makers and women aged between 10 and 50 arriving at Sabarimala when the temple opens for the annual pilgrimage on November 17.

Already, the state is contemplating to seek deployment of force from neighbouring states during the annual pilgrimage season to ensure law and order and offer better assistance to pilgrims coming from other states.
With intelligence revealing Hindu outfits’ plan bring in their members from other states as devotees to prevent entry of women in the age group of 10 to 50, police are leaving no stone unturned to collect details of the groups coming to Sabarimala.

Senior police officers said vehicles coming from other states will be monitored at all check posts in the state. “We will coordinate with the agencies of the other states to track the details of the women coming for pilgrimage in the wake of Centre’s alert that there will be attempts by Left wing extremists to create law and order situation in the wake of SC verdict,” they said.

Discussions are on to analyse the special security arrangements that need to be in place at Sabarimala and Pampa for the first two weeks of December considering the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition which falls on December 6.

“The law and order situation is already highly volatile at Sabarimala following the protests against the Supreme Court verdict. The security will be put on high alert during the first two weeks of December,” a senior police officer said, adding they are assessing the ground-level scenario to plug all loopholes.
