Activists ask people to boycott Chinese products

JAGATSINGHPUR: Ahead of Dussera and Diwali celebrations in the State, members of different organisations on Friday appealed to the masses to avoid buying Chinese products. The activists of Jagatsinghpur Zilla Ganasangram Parishad, led by its president Basudev, took out an awareness rally and conducted a protest meeting in the town in this regard. They said China’s support to Pakistan has not gone down well with the residents here.

“We are calling upon people to boycott Chinese goods during this festive season,” he said.
During the festivals, people should avoid buying products made in China. Instead, they should buy lamps, decorative lights and household utensils made in India, they added. However, sale of Chinese firecrackers is going on during the festive season. Last year, the Chinese crackers were banned by the Government under Explosives Rules, 2008 as these were unsafe and also affect local cracker units.
