BERHAMPUR: A pregnant woman of Aliganda village under Mohona block in Gajapati district died on Tuesday due to non-availability of ambulance.

The seven-month-pregnant, Sunita Sabhapati (28), felt labour pain and had to be admitted to the hospital. However, despite several attempts, the 108 ambulance could not be reached.

The family members then carried Sunita in an auto-rickshaw to Mohona hospital.

On the way, the auto-rickshaw overturned near Badanala Chowk and Sunita sustained severe injuries. Some locals called the ambulance which took her to the hospital.  Unfortunately, Sunita succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Receiving information, Adava police reached the spot and registered a case.
